Before choosing a country you should first
ask yourself what goals and expectations you have for your overseas destination.
Are you interested in employment, retirement, perhaps a long-term language
course or volunteer work?
To narrow your choice of countries it is useful to first consider the countries
that already interest you, or where you have been on holidays previously. We
have spent a considerable amount of time exploring different locations
throughout Asia including Phuket and Chiang Mai in Thailand,
Sihanoukville in Cambodia as well as Vietnam. There are several reasons for Asia being one of our first
destinations, and as we commute back to Australia often, airfares are one important
consideration for us. This together with very reasonable cost of living make
Asia an excellent destination for us. We can easily live in Asia for a fraction
of the living costs back home. Or to put it another way, for the same price we
can live like kings!
Browse the above destinations for further details on what you can expect.
Once again we find that the Brisbane winters are fast approaching and it is time for us to head to warmer climates. Our next location has been chosen and we will be spending the winter in the Andaman region of Thailand. This winter we spread ourselves between Phuket, Khao Lak and the Krabi region.
